2025 Sacramento Valley ABOTA Scholarship Reception

The Sacramento Valley Chapter of ABOTA held its third annual Scholarship Recipient Celebration on November 19th. The chapter, committed to annually awarding a $1,000 scholarship to one student from each of the six area law schools, holds an intimate gathering to recognize the scholarship recipients.

This year, members of our chapter’s Scholarship Selection Team, along with members of the Executive Committee, hosted five 2025 scholarship recipients at the office of Low McKinley & Salenko, LLP in Sacramento. Each law student was paired with a member of the Scholarship Selection Team who introduced the student and spoke about the student’s background and accomplishments. Chapter president, Jill Telfer, made a celebratory toast in recognition of the students.

Next, the students heard from the attorneys about the variety of career paths available to them. The afternoon was highlighted by two special guest speakers. Chapter member, Hon. David W. Abbott, Ret. (Sacramento County Superior Court), and California Judicial Appointments Secretary, Luis Cespedes, made encouraging and inspirational remarks to the law students.

A special thank-you to Linda Sharpe, who every year, in addition to serving on the Scholarship Selection Team, provides incredibly delicious homemade cupcakes and cookies for this event!
