We are absolutely thrilled to inform you that our chapter, under the leadership of our 2023 Chapter President, Letty Litchfield, received the 2023 National ABOTA Chapter of the Year award in the large chapter category! Congratulations to all!
CAL-ABOTA was well-represented in the finals, with California chapters earning the top three finalist positions. We congratulate our co-finalists, the Orange County Chapter and the San Francisco Chapter!
The award was presented to our chapter by National ABOTA President, La’Verne Edney, on June 29th at the National Board meeting in Seattle. This is the first time our chapter has received this prestigious national award! The submission by Letty Litchfield is attached so you can see the summary of our 2023 accomplishments, along with several testimonials about the work we did.
Our chapter showed up in force in Seattle! A special thanks to all the members who made the trip and celebrated our recognition, including: Letty Litchfield, Jill Telfer, Judge David Brown; Judge David Abbott, Bill Callaham, Keith Chidlaw, Doug Adams, Mike Kronlund, Michelle Jenni, Walter Loving, Tom Doyle, Dan Kohls, Dominique Pollara and Barry Vogel.
The entire 2023 Executive Committee should be commended for their hard work and commitment toward attaining this goal. It was a year of “firsts” for our chapter, with several new programs, including our 2023 theme being “The Importance of Judicial Independence”, a new member orientation, an applicant/member mixer, a high school Civility Matters program, a civics education program for service organizations, a civil litigation mentorship pilot program and a law student scholarship program.
Special thanks also to our chapter sponsors whose generous contributions help us do this important work, supporting the missions of ABOTA.
We are proud to continue the momentum with you and look forward to seeing all of you at upcoming chapter events. Again, congratulations for your success in 2023!
