The Sacramento Valley Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) is pleased to announce that it will award a $1,000.00 scholarship to a selected student from your law school for the upcoming academic year.

 

The principal aims of this scholarship program are (1) to provide financial assistance to a law student who is interested in becoming a civil trial lawyer, and (2) to expose law students to ABOTA and its mission.

 

Any law student who has completed first-year studies is eligible.

 

HOW TO APPLY:

 

Submit a completed application form, signed by the law student and a Law Professor or Dean who knows the student.

 

DEADLINE TO APPLY:

 

Application form must be received no later than the last day of September.

ABOUT ABOTA   

 

Founded in 1958, ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges. ABOTA and its members are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. 

 

ABOTA membership consists of more than 7,300 lawyers—equally balanced between plaintiff and defense—and judges spread among 96 chapters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. There are more than 150 lawyers in the Sacramento Valley Chapter of ABOTA.

 

ABOTA is an invitation-only organization. Members must have at least five years of active experience as trial lawyers, have tried at least 10 civil jury trials to conclusion and possess additional litigation experience. Members must also exhibit the virtues of civility, integrity and professionalism set forth in ABOTA’s Bylaws.
